FARGO — An artist and local students plan to paint a mural on the Fargo Police Department Substation, 1230 25th St. S.

For three days, starting Monday, July 22, Alex Lopez, a Miami-based artist, along with youth from the Fargo Police Department Summer Camp, Charism Summer Camp and Fargo North High School Art Club will be painting a “Unity Mural” on the south side wall with funds from a Kresge grant awarded to the city of Fargo.

Earlier this spring, Community Trust Officer Michael Bloom came up with the idea to have a mural painted in the city to reflect the strength and relationships law enforcement has with the youth in the community.

The public is invited to watch the artist and students at work during the Unity Mural Grill Out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 22, in the parking lot, 1230 25th St. S. Burgers and brats will be served, a $5 suggested donation benefits the Fargo North High School Art Program.
