FARGO - Assistant Cass County State's Attorney Cherie Clark has been appointed to a judgeship in the Southeast Judicial District of North Dakota, according to Clark, who said it's the first time a woman has received such an appointment.

Clark, who will have her chambers in Jamestown, said she will begin her new job once the state's attorney's office has found a replacement.

She anticipates she may start in her new post sometime in August.

Clark is a University of South Dakota School of Law graduate, and she was admitted to the North Dakota bar in 2007.
