ALICE, N.D. – Authorities have arrested a man and woman in connection with a report of a stolen vehicle that led to searches of farmsteads near here.
A CodeRED phone alert was sent to residents south of Alice, as Cass County sheriff’s deputies searched for a suspect Tuesday morning, April 17. The alert was issued for residents within a two-mile radius of the search, an emergency dispatcher said.
Sheriff Paul Laney said the search stemmed from a law enforcement pursuit and that “the driver bailed” out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
Sgt. Tim Briggeman said the incident started in Ransom County. The company where the vehicle was reported stolen used a tracking device in the vehicle to provide law enforcement with the vehicle’s location, the sheriff’s office said.
Shortly after 8 a.m., the vehicle was reported to be in Cass County and was eventually found about 8 miles southeast of Alice.
The lone occupant of the vehicle, Jessica Lynn Bailey, 28, of West Fargo, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and on an outstanding warrant related to child support.
Deputies searched surrounding farmsteads before finding a second suspect. About 10:35 a.m., Steven Francis Houle, 28, of Harwood, was arrested on suspicion of driving under suspension. He also had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension.
