OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MINN. - A wanted man out of Stevens County has been arrested after leading multiple agencies on a chase on Friday, Sept. 7, at 8:53 a.m.
According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, a deputy on patrol spotted a truck that matched the description of a wanted man's vehicle out of Stevens County, who is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The truck then turned onto County Road 82, into Otter Tail County, and stopped directly across the deputy at an intersection.
The driver of the truck then got out, grabbed something from the back of the truck and fled north on foot.
The deputy then called out backup from Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, MN State Patrol and DNR Conservation Officers.
A drone from the Grant County Sheriff's Office was deployed to search the area.
A DNR Conservation officer was stationed at a house north of where the suspect first ran away. That officer spotted the suspect in a slough.
A perimeter was set up around that area. The suspect was seen throwing what police think was a gun into the slough and then surrendered himself.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Wait, 27, from Morris.
During the search, Ashby Public School went into a soft lockdown and then resumed normal operations once the suspect was apprehended.
