FARGO — The temporary parking lot instituted during the Fargo City Hall construction project will permanently close at 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, to allow work to commence on phase one of the Fargo Civic Plaza and the eventual placement of the "Sodbuster" sculpture.

Fargo Public Library and city hall patrons are encouraged to use the east parking lot (east of the library and south of the new city hall). Both the east and west entrances of the library will be accessible throughout the duration of the project. The contractor will have staff on site to mitigate pedestrian impacts, ensuring connections to 4th Street North and the east parking lot.

Phase one of the project will include the placement of 28 new trees of various species in permanent locations and an additional 171 planted in a temporary, on-site tree nursery to foster for the next phases of the civic plaza project.

An additional permanent parking lot is being constructed on the west side of the new city hall, which will facilitate parking for an additional 28 vehicles. The new lot will be completed in fall of this year.
