The brother of a Crookston woman reported missing by police Wednesday, Aug. 21, said on Facebook Thursday that she had reached out to her family.
BAGLEY, Minn. — Authorities in Polk and Clearwater County are asking the public to be on the lookout for a woman reported missing last week.
Ellen Kay Simmons, 45, of Crookston was last seen outside the Clearwater County Courthouse in Bagley at around 5 p.m. on Aug. 15, according to a news release from the Crookston Police Department. She hasn't been heard from since and was reported missing on Aug. 17.
The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office said Simmons walked away from the courthouse on her own but said police are concerned for her safety. Crookston police said in their news release that Simmons left her home without her cellphone and medications.
Simmons was attempting to get to Bemidji, according to police, who said she was waiting for a ride from a person driving from Crookston.
She is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 158 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said she was last seen wearing an orange-brown tank top, black multi-colored capri leggings and brown sandals.
Authorities ask anyone who has seen Simmons contact local law enforcement.
