GRAND FORKS — Public Works crews in Grand Forks are collecting leaves off residents' front lawns this week.

Starting Monday, Oct. 21, workers have been vacuuming up leaves across town. It's all an effort to keep them from ending up in the wrong place.

"What's important right now is that we get those leaves collected so that they do not plug the storm drains as we head into freezing weather," said LeahRae Amundson, the director of Grand Forks Public Works.

City crews will try to pick up leaves throughout the city at least twice in the next couple of weeks.
