55-plus driver discount courses offered to Minnesotans

ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering 55-plus driver discount courses through distance learning. A certified instructor will update motorists on defensive-driving tips, changes in laws, vehicle technology and traffic safety.

Completion of an eight-hour course qualifies drivers for an up to 10% discount on auto insurance. To maintain the discount, drivers must complete a four-hour refresher every three years.

A four-hour refresher course (No. 47226) to be held via Zoom is scheduled from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 21 . The cost is $22.

An eight-hour first-time course (No. 47227) is planned via Zoom from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sept. 15-16. The cost is $26.
