Discovery, Davies students host homeless awareness concert

FARGO — The Discovery Middle School eighth grade band is hosting a donation concert alongside Davies High School wind ensemble, honor band and jazz bands at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Davies High School theater, 7150 S. 25th St. All proceeds will benefit three homeless shelters in Fargo-Moorhead.

Each musical group will perform various arrangements, leading up to a combined performance of “A Solitary Wish,” arranged by Brian Balmages. At the end of the concert, the donation collection will be evenly distributed to three homeless organizations based in Fargo-Moorhead.

The students chose the following organizations: YWCA Cass Clay, Churches United for the Homeless and Youth Works of ND. Beginning in September, students brainstormed project ideas in their music classes to help raise awareness of homelessness in the community utilizing the power of music.
