FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — Authorities in Otter Tail County ordered a second competency test for a woman charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 6-year-old boy in April.
After an initial competency evaluation found 41-year-old Bobbie Bishop, of Fergus Falls, unfit to stand trial, District Court Judge Barbara Hanson ordered that a second evaluation — requested by the prosecution — be conducted.
Bishop, along with 45-year-old Walter Wynhoff, of Fergus Falls, are each charged with one felony count of second-degree murder without intent, three charges relating to manslaughter and one count of malicious punishment of a child, according to court records.
Court records show the boy died in April after suffering from ongoing abuse.
An evidentiary hearing is slated for March 6 in Bishop's case.
Wynhoff is scheduled for an omnibus hearing Feb. 1.
At the time of his death, the boy, along with a sibling, were living in Fergus Falls with Bishop, described as a "family friend" in court documents, and Wynhoff.
As of late Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, phone messages left for the prosecuting and defense attorneys were not immediately returned.
