Eastern ND woman claims state's first online Powerball million-dollar prize

BISMARCK — An eastern North Dakota woman has claimed a $1 million lottery prize she won Saturday, Jan. 12, through Powerball's online lottery service.

Tammy Edland of McHenry, a town about 55 miles north of Jamestown, claimed the prize in Bismarck on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 15, the North Dakota Lottery announced in a release. It's the largest prize won yet in North Dakota through Powerball's Pick & Click online play.

Edland plans to use the winnings to remodel her kitchen, buy a truck for her husband and pay off farm equipment, the North Dakota Lottery said.

Edland won the prize by matching all five white balls in Saturday's drawing. The winning numbers were 7, 36, 48, 57, 58, and a Powerball of 24. Powerball's next draw is Wednesday, Jan. 16. The jackpot is $112 million.
