Moorhead woman gets jail time and 25 years of probation for criminal sexual conduct with minor

MOORHEAD — Authorities here sentenced a 42-year-old woman who was convicted of sexually molesting a minor to one year in jail.

Shaniese Latrice Davis, Moorhead, was sentenced on Monday, Feb. 11, in Clay County District Court by Judge Michael Fritz to 11 years and eight months in prison, all of which was stayed for 25 years on condition she spend one year spent in jail.

She was given credit for 261 days already spent in jail and she will be placed on 25 years of supervised probation upon her release from jail.

Davis earlier pleaded guilty to one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to charging documents:

Police went to a motel in Moorhead on June 11 on a report of sexual assault that involved two children.

One of the children told police her brother was bit and inappropriately touched by Davis.

A breath test given to Davis showed her blood alcohol level was 0.25 percent, court records show.

In an interview with a specialist from the Red River Children’s Advocacy Center, the victim’s sister said she told her brother to go sleep in Davis’ bed because he kept falling off of hers.

The victim told the specialist Davis bit him on the back and that Davis tried to take his pants off and touch him inappropriately, court records show.

Davis acknowledged to officers that she was in the same bed with the victim but denied any sexual touching, court records show.

Davis has to pay about $1,600 in fines and fees.

She is required to register as a predatory offender, undergo sex offender evaluation and abstain from alcohol and controlled substances unless prescribed.
