FARGO — Authorities here have accused a man of stealing a semi-truck and trailer loaded with a cargo of Oreos, with the property involved having a total value of about $90,000.

John William Crowell, 27, of Fargo, is charged with one Class A felony count of theft of property for stealing a freightliner semi-truck and a trailer, according to documents filed on Feb. 25 in Cass County District Court.

According to court documents:

On or about Nov. 21, a Fargo police officer was dispatched to the Northport Hornbacher's for a report of a stolen semi that was “pulling a blue Oreo cookie trailer with six pallets of produce.”

The driver of the truck told the officer he left the vehicle running while he went inside the store to fill out paperwork and returned after five minutes to find the truck and trailer had been stolen.

The driver said the trailer, truck and its load were valued at about $90,000.

A Moorhead police officer arrested Crowell a short time after the theft after spotting a semi matching the description of the stolen truck.
