FARGO — The American Red Cross in the Dakotas Region is preparing for spring flooding and is asking for extra help.

The Red Cross says it always has volunteers on hand, but will likely need more in the weeks to come. Volunteers help provide shelter, serve food and hand out supplies.

"We have trained Red Cross volunteers ready to go, but as you know flooding can be tiring," said spokesperson Gretchen Hjelmstad. (We're) just putting the call out for anybody who wants to become a volunteer to come and learn a little bit more and see how they can help this spring."

You can apply to be a volunteer on this website.
