FARGO — If you have any spare change, students at North Dakota State University could use it to help a future Bison.
NDSU's ninth annual "Battle of the Cents-es" is a competition between the College of Engineering and the College of Health Professions. They're raising money for 18-year-old LJ Wells, a Granville, N.D., teenager fighting adrenal cancer who plans to attend NDSU.
Wells has undergone surgery and several rounds of chemotherapy in Fargo and is now trying a new medicine and receiving care through Colorado University, according to an NDSU news release.
Each team gets points for every coin donated, but if someone puts dollar bills in their buckets they lose points.
NDSU says students are trying to get a dollar per student, which would be roughly $15,000 if the entire student body contributed.
The teams will be at Memorial Union, Sudro Hall, and the university's engineering complex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 25 to March 29.
