BRAMPTON, N.D. — Authorities here are investigating a man's death after he was pulled from a grain bin near Brampton Wednesday morning, June 12.
Emergency crews were dispatched about 10:45 a.m. for a rescue. Crews were already nearby for another call and were able to make it to the farm quickly, Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper said in a news release.
A farmer in the area first noticed a grain auger was running with nobody around. When he checked the grain bin he saw a man trapped inside.
Crews were able to remove the man from the grain bin but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time, but Paeper said he was a 71-year-old man.
Investigators are working to find out how the man ended up in the bin and how long he was trapped for.
Brampton is about 108 miles southwest of Fargo.
