FARGO – Thanks in part to a sprinkler system, a fire was contained to one unit of a south Fargo apartment building on Friday, Dec. 1.
Battalion Chief Bruce Anderson said firefighters responded to a call at Metropolitan Apartments, 4400 Calico Drive S., shortly before 3 p.m.
“When our crew entered the apartment, there was smoke, but the sprinkler head had put the fire out. It prevented the fire from spreading,” Anderson said.
The fire originated in the kitchen, he said, but the official cause won’t be released until after the the investigation is complete.
Anderson said portions of the apartment complex were temporarily evacuated, and the American Red Cross aided tenants of the affected unit who were displaced for the night.
