Man driving forklift dies after he was rear-ended on ND state highway

THOMPSON, N.D. -- A 61-year-old forklift driver was killed Monday, June 18, when he was struck by a minivan driven by woman about one-half mile west of Thompson in northeast North Dakota on state Highway 15.

THOMPSON, N.D. -- A 61-year-old forklift driver was killed Monday, June 18, when he was struck by a minivan driven by woman about one-half mile west of Thompson in northeast North Dakota on state Highway 15.

The man’s name will be released Tuesday pending notification of family, said the North Dakota State Patrol.

The forklift driver was hit from the rear about 1 p.m. by the 2012 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Marilyn Pederson, 80, of nearby Northwood. She was not injured in the crash and could face possible charges, said the state Patrol. A passenger in her vehicle, Judith Meldahl, 75, of Decatur, Ill., also wasn’t injured.

Thompson is just south of Grand Forks along Interstate 29. The crash remains under investigation.
