DICKINSON, N.D. -- A head-on crash Wednesday about 8 a.m. involving a pickup and a semi south of Dickinson took the life of a 59-year-old Dickinson man.
The man was driving a Chevrolet 2006 pickup traveling southbound on state Highway 22. The 2005 Freightliner semi- was traveling northbound. A third vehicle, a semi hauling grain, was traveling southbound in front of the pickup. The southbound grain hauler then was making a turn west and the pickup drove around the grain hauler into the northbound lane and collided with the semi, said the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The vehicles came to rest in the east ditch.
The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man driving the semi, a woman passenger and an 11-year-old passenger were transported by ambulance to CHI-St Alexius Hospital in Dickinson where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s name and those injured in the semi were not released. The crash remains under investigation by the Patrol.
