JOHNSON SIDING, S.D. — A man has died as a result of injuries suffered in a Friday, Aug. 9, motorcycle crash near Johnson Siding, an unincorporated community about 10 miles west of Rapid City.
Tony Weber, 67, of Yuma, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 11, in Rapid City Regional Hospital, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
At 5:18 p.m. on Friday, Weber, on a 2015 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, was northbound on Norris Peak Road, 3 miles north of Johnson Siding.
Weber lost control of his motorcycle while approaching a bridge. He slid into a ditch and hit a barbed-wire fence. He was not wearing a helmet, and his injuries were determined not to be life-threatening immediately following the crash.
Weber is the third person to die as a result of a crash during this year's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
