BENSON COUNTY, N.D. — Three people were involved in a crash at 11:03 a.m. Oct. 6 at the intersection of ND Highway 19 and ND Highway 30, seven miles north of Maddock, N.D., with two individuals treated for serious injuries.
According to a report from the ND Highway Patrol, Terry Wallace, 63, from Devils Lake, N.D., was traveling westbound on ND Highway 19 when he and one other passenger, Shane Weinmann, 36, were struck by Kathy Schwanke, from Maddock, N.D.
Schwanke was traveling northbound on ND Highway 30 when she failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of ND Highway 19, striking the passenger side of the pickup, according to the report.
Stop signs are posted at the intersection requiring northbound and southbound traffic on ND Highway 30 to stop and yield the right of way to eastbound and westbound traffic on ND Highway 19.
Wallace was treated and released on-scene for injuries sustained in the crash. Weinmann, also from Devils Lake, Minn., was initially transported to CHI Saint Alexius in Devils Lake, Minn., and later transported to Grand Forks for his injuries.
Schwanke, 65, was airlifted from the crash scene and flown to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for her injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
