FARGO — Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in a Thursday morning single-vehicle crash that put two in the hospital.
According to the Fargo Police Department, the accident occurred on the 900 block of South University Drive at 12:55 a.m. when a car crashed into a streetlight, then a utility pole, downing some power lines and then crashing into a tree.
Fargo Fire Battalion Chief Jason Ness says during cleanup, South University Drive had to be blocked off between Ninth Avenue South and 10th Avenue South, to keep drivers away from downed power lines.
Emergency crews extracted the driver and passenger from the vehicle using the jaws of life. F-M ambulance transported them to the hospital with serious injuries. There was no word on their condition as of Thursday afternoon.
Fargo police say a report for criminal vehicular injury and driving with a suspended/revoked license was forwarded to the State's Attorney's Office as possible charges.
The crash is still under investigation.
