EDGELEY, N.D. — A 64-year-old Watertown, S.D., woman was seriously injured and another man was also taken to the hospital after a vehicle hit a trailer being pulled by a truck Tuesday, July 28, at 4:30 p.m. on the south end of Edgeley.
The South Dakota woman was airlifted to Avera Hospital in Aberdeen, S.D., to be treated. The driver of the truck, Dean Johs, 40, of Napoleon, N.D., was taken to the Wishek Hospital and later released.
The North Dakota State Patrol, which said charges are pending against Johs, said the crash occurred when Johs, in a 2017 Ford pickup pulling a gooseneck trailer, didn't stop at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 281. The 2011 Toyota driven by the Watertown woman struck the trailer, which forced the trailer to detach and travel into the ditch, while the pickup rotated and rolled.
Edgeley is 39 miles south of Jamestown, N.D., in LaMoure County.
The accident remains under investigation, said the patrol.
