BISMARCK -- A South Dakota woman was killed in a head-on crash early Friday, Jan. 1, on the Bismarck Expressway Bridge.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 2:15 a.m. The patrol said the 24-year-old woman from Cherry Creek, S.D., was driving east in the west bound lanes when she crashed into a pickup heading west.
Road conditions were listed as frost covered, and there was fog present, the patrol’s report said.
The woman died at the scene. A 25-year-old Bismarck man and a 28-year-old Fort Yates woman were passengers in the car and had to be extracted from the vehicle. They were taken to a local hospital with injuries, which were not listed. The driver of the pickup, 18-year-old Kenyon Eagle of Bismarck, also was taken to the hospital. He was cited for driving under the influence, the patrol said.
