KINDRED, N.D. — A Moorhead woman and Sargent County, N.D., man were hurt in a fiery head-on crash near Kindred Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, authorities said.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Tuesday night that a 1996 Ford Thunderbird driven by 45-year-old Kandyce Blumhagen of Moorhead and a 2000 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 69-year-old Alan Peterson of Forman, N.D., hit head-on about 5:45 p.m. 6 miles west of Kindred on North Dakota Highway 46.
The Jeep went into the ditch after the collision and caught fire, but the man was removed from the Jeep by a witness before it caught fire, the patrol said. The man was taken to Essentia Health in Fargo with injuries.
The Thunderbird stayed on the roadway, and the woman was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Sanford Health in Fargo with serious injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and there were no passengers. The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
