MANDAN, N.D. — The Morton County Sheriff's Office has identified a 30-year-old Bismarck man who died Saturday evening, June 5, after his personal watercraft tipped over on the Missouri River.

The man, Rodrigo Soto-Garcia, and a 22-year-old South Dakota woman who was a passenger on the Jet Ski-style watercraft were pulled onto shore by people staying at the Graner Park campground, according to the sheriff's office. Graner Park is about 19 miles southeast of Mandan.

Bystanders performed CPR on Soto-Garcia until first responders arrived. He was wearing a life jacket and was unconscious when the first responders got there.

Soto-Garcia was taken to a Bismarck hospital where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said. His passenger was not injured.

The Morton County Sheriff's Office and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department are investigating the incident.
