MOORHEAD — A 15-year-old girl was hospitalized after a vehicle struck her while she was riding her bike Tuesday, June 8, at 40th Avenue South and 11th Street South.
At about 8:18 p.m., the girl was riding across 40th Avenue South within a marked crosswalk when the eastbound vehicle hit her, police said.
Medics took the teen to Sanford Medical Center with what appeared to be serious injuries, but her medical condition was not available, Moorhead Police Sgt. Joel Voxland said in a statement. Authorities did not release the girl's name.
Officers interviewed the driver, 31-year-old Daniel Grout, and police said the crash appeared to be the result of inattentive driving.
Police do not believe speeding or alcohol were factors in the crash.
"This investigation is ongoing and any recommended charges are pending the outcome," Voxland said in the statement.
