ELLENDALE — A 10-year-old Ellendale boy was hospitalized late Friday, July 23, after he was struck by a motorist in his hometown, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.
The boy was riding his bicycle south along 2nd Ave. S. when an eastbound Dodge Intrepid entered the intersection with 3rd St. S. The vehicle struck the boy, which caused him to land on the hood of the vehicle and fall to the ground.
The boy was transported via Ellendale Ambulance to Aberdeen, S.D., to be treated for his injuries. The North Dakota Highway Patrol did not indicate the severity of the child's injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, an unidentified 64-year-old male, was not wearing a seat belt. Possible charges against the driver are pending an investigation, which is ongoing.
Also responding to the crash were the Dickey County Sheriff's Office, Ellendale Police Department and Ellendale Fire Department.
Ellendale is roughly 65 miles south of Jamestown.
