WEST FARGO — A man was taken to the hospital after allegedly hitting a West Fargo police officer with a stolen vehicle and crashing during a pursuit Thursday, Oct. 14.
Police received a call about a man breaking into a white SUV in the area of 1227 Queen's Way at 4:09 a.m., according to city of West Fargo spokesperson Melissa Richard.
When police found the SUV, the man tried to flee and hit an officer's leg with the vehicle. Police pursued the vehicle south on Veterans Boulevard.
Officers used tire-deflation devices near 32nd Avenue East and Veterans Boulevard, by Cash Wise Foods. The driver tried to avoid the devices, hitting a median and rolling the SUV, authorities said.
West Fargo firefighters pulled the driver from the SUV, and he was taken to a hospital. The man's name was not immediately released, and authorities did not provide an update on his condition.
Charges under consideration included aggravated assault on a police officer, fleeing in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, fictitious registration and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, according to Richard.
The officer hit by the SUV was taken to a hospital and later released.
