Soccer, track and field complex of almost $7 million at Fargo North close to reality

FARGO — Fargo North High School is about to take another major step up in its athletics facilities. Fundraising for a track and field and soccer complex that will be situated on the southeast side of the school is, in a mid-distance race term, on the home stretch.
Construction for the targeted just-under $7 million project is expected to start perhaps in the coming weeks. It includes an alternate commitment from private donors to raise $750,000 for artificial turf.
“We are extremely close,” North principal Travis Christensen said of the external funding. “As anybody who is involved in fundraising, that’s where it gets the most anxious. We can see the finish line but we’re not quite there. We really have to thank our community and our supporters.”
