As snow stacks up, Grand Forks police warn drivers about creeping forward at intersections

GRAND FORKS — As the snow stacks up at intersections across the region, police are saying drivers are responsible to be as safe as possible.

Grand Forks police say it's a struggle for some drivers to see oncoming traffic in intersections in town. Streets crews plan to clear the snow piles as soon as possible.

Until then if drivers pull their car too far forward and get in an accident, it could mean legal trouble for them.

"Typically it's going to be considered that the person that was coming onto that roadway, they would be the one in violation of ordinance or law," said Lt. Travis Benson, of the Grand Forks Police Department.

Police said that even if drivers have the right of way, they still need to slow down at intersections.
