FARGO - The city is bumping up the closure date of the intersection of Broadway and NP Avenue downtown.

The junction will close sometime after noon on Sunday, the city of Fargo said in a press release this morning.

The intersection was originally scheduled to close Monday. The repair work will last a maximum of thirty days and is part of the conversion of NP and First Avenue from one-way streets into two-ways.

During this closure, de-tours on First Avenue and NP Avenue will be set up for two-way traffic, the release said.

The Roberts Street outlet, which typically is a one-way southbound, will be closed to southbound traf-fic but will be used to de-tour northbound motorists, said Kristy Schmidt, Fargo civil engineer.

City engineering staff is encouraging motorists to use Fourth Street North to access downtown during the closure.

Brick and concrete repair work will also take place at the intersection of First Avenue and Broadway, scheduled tentatively to begin July 22 or 23.

Both avenues are ex-pected to be operating as two-ways in September.
