Cause of fire at NDSU under investigation

FARGO — A fire at a storage building on the north side of the North Dakota State University campus was quickly put out by firefighters, Monday afternoon, May 6.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the blaze at a storage building for the Northern Crops Institute, 1616 Albrecht Blvd. N., at 3:49 p.m. When they arrived they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the building, which is behind the NDSU biosciences building.

Unnamed chemicals were burning in a container on the premises and the structure was engulfed in flames, according to scanner traffic.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames in fewer than 15 minutes.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
