WILLISTON, N.D. - A 51-year-old western North Dakota man is being held on $100,000 bond after being accused of sexually abusing a girl he was previously charged with exposing himself to.
Theodore Slater Jr. of Trenton was charged Friday, April 12, with two class A felony counts of gross sexual imposition. Slater was charged in January with indecent exposure, a class A misdemeanor.
In the January case, Slater was accused of watching pornography in front of a now 10-year-old girl and exposing his genitals to her when she was 9 years old.
Trenton is about 13 miles west of Williston.
The new charges involve the same girl. The latest charges against Slater claim that on two occasions he had sexual contact with the girl. She was about 8 years old the first time and about 9 the second time, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Northwest District Court.
The first incident happened between early June and early September 2017, while the second happened between early March 2018 and the fall, court records indicate.
In October, the girl’s mother called police to tell them her daughter had told her Slater had acted inappropriately, charging documents state. After a forensic interview with the girl, police charged Slater in January with indecent exposure.
The girl went through another forensic interview last month, which led to the new charges, investigators wrote in the probable cause affidavit.
Slater is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 15.
