BISMARCK - A karate instructor has been charged with secretly filming children in changing rooms at a Bismarck martial arts school.
Adler James Scheer, 23, has been charged with three felony counts of surreptitious intrusion and one felony count of gross sexual imposition.
A 13-year-old girl reported that she found a phone in recording mode in a dressing room at Bismarck ATA Martial Arts where she was changing, according to an affidavit. She said she started to undress when she noticed a phone resting on top of a dividing wall.
Scheer was questioned about the phone and allegedly admitted that the phone was his, according to the affidavit. He reportedly told police he had recorded children on two prior instances, as well.
Scheer allegedly admitted to recording three children younger than age 14 in the changing rooms, the affidavit says.
The affidavit states he admitted to recording the children in the changing rooms "in an attempt to see their bodies and fulfill his curiosity and sexual desire." Scheer reportedly also admitted to inappropriately touching an 11-year-old.
Bond was set Thursday at $50,000.
