GRAND FORKS - A Grand Forks man is suing the city for more than $50,000 after a slip at the Alerus Center allegedly caused him significant injuries.
Harold Miskavige slipped on an unknown liquid during the Oct. 27 University of North Dakota football game, the lawsuit said. Miskavige fell forward and his legs extended in opposite directions, according to the court document.
After the fall Miskavige required medical treatment and continues to suffer severe pain that has prevented him from doing normal activities and also caused him a loss of income, according to the document.
The lawsuit alleges the city was negligent because it was responsible for maintaining the Alerus Center grounds so that there would be no risk of injury. There was not a warning sign on the ground near the spill, the lawsuit said. The city owns the Alerus Center.
Miskavige is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from the city, according to the lawsuit.
