FARGO — Prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Peyton Carter Wentz with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and criminal mischief after he allegedly wielded a golf club and hurt two people.

At about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 800 block of East Beaton Drive in West Fargo.

The two victims told police they had come to the area “to try and talk out a disagreement” with Wentz, but Wentz struck their vehicle with a golf club, according to documents filed Thursday, June 20, in Cass County District Court.

One victim said the club struck his arm, and the other said he was injured from the broken glass, court papers show.

Wentz and an acquaintance fled from the scene before officers arrived. Wentz was later arrested, though authorities did not find his acquaintance.
