FARGO — A West Fargo man was sentenced to serve three years behind bars on charges stemming from a stolen vehicle chase in February.
Cody Allen Church, 32, appeared in Cass County District Court on Wednesday, June 26, where Judge Frank Racek sentenced him on two felony charges of reckless endangerment and drug possession, and two misdemeanor charges of theft and fleeing a police officer.
Church pleaded guilty to the charges in May. On Wednesday, Racek ordered Church to serve three years in prison and pay more than $3,000 in restitution. He was given credit for having already spent 132 days in jail.
On Feb. 15, West Fargo police tried to pull over a vehicle near the 3800 block of Main Avenue in Fargo, but the vehicle drove away.
A tire-deflation device was used to slow the vehicle, but the chase went into West Fargo before the vehicle got stuck in a ditch.
Church, who was later identified as the driver, surrendered to police after a brief standoff.
