ROCHESTER, Minn. — Authorities here are investigating a second shooting in three days in southeast Rochester.
On Tuesday night, June 25, an adult male was shot, this time in the 700 block of 12th Street Southeast. Lt. Frank Ohm on Wednesday said police believe that the two incidents were not related.
Rochester police were called to KFC, 717 12th St. SE, at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses reported multiple gunshots, said Rochester police Sgt. Greg Jaerdeau. Ohm said three shots were fired by a 9 mm gun.
Police found the 24-year-old Rochester man being tended to by medical staff at Olmsted Medical Center. The man was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital–Saint Marys.
The man told police he had gone to KFC to purchase "something," Ohm said. The man told police an adult woman and two young children were in his vehicle. As the man approached a second vehicle with five men inside, he realized he was in danger and tried to run back to his vehicle. He was shot twice as he fled, Ohm said. A third shot was fired and hit the man's vehicle.
No arrests had been made by Wednesday morning.
The first shooting, on Saturday night, injured a 23-year-old man.
