FARGO — Two women are in custody after allegedly leading police on a vehicle chase through Moorhead and Fargo on Sunday night, July 7.
The chase started at about 7 p.m. when a car failed to pull over during a traffic stop on Eighth Street and 30th Avenue South, according to Moorhead Police Department spokesman Deric Swenson. Police stopped chasing the vehicle near Main Avenue after traffic made it unsafe to continue the pursuit.
A few minutes later, Clay County deputies continued pursuing the vehicle on Main Avenue in Fargo, according to Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting. The pursuit came to an end on Eighth Avenue North and Second Street North in Fargo after the car took a turn too wide, hit a tree and rolled over, Empting said.
The car had two occupants, including the driver, Danielle Franklin, 28, of Grand Forks and passenger Skyler Dauphinais, 28, with no address on record, Empting said.
Both were taken to the hospital, treated, released and were held at the Cass County Jail, according to Empting, who said Dauphinais was being held on an outstanding warrant and that Franklin will likely face a charge for fleeing police in a vehicle.
