MOORHEAD — A Dilworth, Minn., man is being accused of stabbing another man following an altercation, resulting in the victim being hospitalized.
Rene Ricardo Alvarado, 29, is facing one felony count of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, documents filed on Thursday, July 11, in Clay County District Court show.
At 1:03 a.m., on July 10, two law enforcement officers were dispatched to Prairie View Estates in Glyndon, Minn., for a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, they found Alvarado along with a woman and the victim, court papers show.
The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The woman told authorities the victim, who is her father, and Alvarado got into an altercation outside her house early Wednesday morning, court papers show.
She said she was calling the police when she heard the victim yell and claim that Alvarado had stabbed him, court papers show.
Another man, 29-year-old John David Balboa, of Glyndon, is charged with third-degree assault for allegedly kicking a man, identified only as R.R.A. in court papers, in the head and face, court papers show.
Balboa was arrested at Prairie View Estates and charging documents for Alvarado indicate a man identified only as J.B. who tried to break up the fight between the victim and Alvarado.
Court papers also show J.B. later “ran up and pushed” Alvarado to the ground when authorities first responded to the incident.
Court records did not state if Balboa was connected with Alvarado, the woman or the victim.
