BECKER COUNTY – Two people have been arrested here as part of a drug trafficking investigation that turned up heroin and cocaine mixed with fentanyl along with about $20,000 in cash.
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday, April 18, that Dawn Lee Kier, 45, of Mahnomen, Minn., and Craig Steven Jackson, 34, of Ogema, Minn., were arrested and charged in Becker County District Court with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
The arrests resulted from a joint investigation on April 12 into a drug trafficking organization by the sheriff’s office and several other agencies, including West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Central Minnesota Drug Task Force, Minnesota State Patrol, Detroit Lakes Police Department, White Earth Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Authorities seized about $20,000 in cash and about 425 grams of suspected heroin and cocaine mixed with fentanyl during the investigation. Sheriff Todd Glander said in a news release that more arrests are expected, and the case remains under investigation.
