CROOKSTON, Minn. - A McIntosh man has been accused of possessing child porn depicting young children, with one video showing a sexual act with an infant.

Lucas James Coyle, 24, was scheduled to appear Thursday, Sept. 13, in Polk County District Court to face 13 felony counts of possessing pornographic work involving a minor. Each charge is punishable by up to five years in prison.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension began investigating a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Coyle uploaded child pornography into a Dropbox account in March 2017, according to court documents.

Officers reviewed the images and video and found they depicted what appeared to by pre-pubescent boys and girls performing sexual acts, mostly with adults, court documents said. Some children in the images and videos appeared to be 5 years old, and at least one video depicted an infant, according to court documents.

Agents confiscated Coyle's laptop, Verizon tablet, digital storage devices, three cellphones, a 9mm handgun and ammunition when they searched his home, court documents said.

Coyle told officers he had an email account, one identified by agents as the email used to upload the child porn in question, court documents said. He also initially said he had a Dropbox account but hadn't used it, court document state.

He eventually admitted to acquiring the child porn through various platforms and backing the files up on Dropbox, according to court documents. He also admitted to looking at child porn about once a month for three to four years, court documents said.

Coyle said he deleted the porn in June 2017, and "he knew what he was doing was wrong," court documents said.

Officers found 37 images and video files depicted child porn, court documents state.
