JAMESTOWN, N.D -- The Jamestown Police Department is continuing efforts to apprehend a man it believes to be armed and potentially dangerous and who rammed a police car with his vehicle before later fleeing on foot, according to Lt. Robert Opp.

As of Thursday afternoon, Oct. 11, he was still on the run after the Wednesday night incident.

“We’ve checked several residences, but haven’t found him yet,” Opp said.

Police don’t know for sure if he fled the city, but he could have, said Opp.

The suspect is identified as Levi Shawn Guthmiller, 25,  of Jamestown. He is described as 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with red hair and last seen wearing a dark jacket, white hoodie and blue jeans.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, a Jamestown police officer attempted to stop a vehicle in northeast Jamestown driven by a suspect believed to be wanted on felony warrants. The suspect struck the patrol car with his vehicle before leaving the scene. The vehicle later slid off the roadway and became inoperable. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The Jamestown Police Department issued a code red alert warning citizens that an armed suspect was fleeing officers in Jamestown and asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Persons can call 701-252-1000 with any information regarding the whereabouts of Guthmiller.
