JAMESTOWN, N.D. — One man is in jail after being arrested for an incident with a knife outside of Walmart, 921 25th St. SW.
Jamestown police say they received a call of an assault with a knife at 8:33 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
Officers say the 29-year-old victim told them he was approached by an acquaintance as he was leaving Walmart.
Following a brief exchange of words between the suspect and the victim, the suspect grabbed the victim from behind around his shoulders and pulled out a knife.
He inflicted non-life threatening injuries on the victim before leaving the parking lot in a vehicle.
The victim received medical attention at the scene.
During the investigation, police were able to identify the suspect as 54-year-old Roylan Laureta.
Officers then located Laureta in rural Logan County around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault. Laureta is being held in the Stutsman County Jail where he is now awaiting formal charges.
