DOWNER, Minn. — The driver of a semi was arrested Monday, Aug. 19, after authorities received text messages from a woman in the truck traveling on Interstate 94 who needed help.

Emergency dispatchers in Otter Tail County began receiving messages from the woman at 10:23 a.m. indicating she was a passenger in the semi and that she'd been sexually assaulted, according to a report from the Clay County Sheriff's Department.

The woman texted authorities as the semi was headed west on I-94, and she provided a description of the semi.

Otter Tail County sheriff's deputies and Minnesota troopers found a semi that matched the description traveling on I-94 near Downer, about 20 miles southeast of Moorhead. They pulled the driver over without incident, the report said.

Police found the woman inside the semi and took her to a nearby hospital, the report said.
