MOORHEAD — A Sunday night shooting in Moorhead has one woman in that neighborhood saying she's had enough.
"Time to move. Time to move," said Miranda McClure, who had just stepped outside for a smoke around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, when she heard the action unfolding.
"All I heard was about eight pops, and when I came out, you could see smoke coming from behind the garages right here," McClure said.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Moorhead Police Department and other agencies responded to calls of multiple gunshots fired and people yelling in the 1900 block of 18th Avenue South in Moorhead.
Two vehicles were reportedly seen leaving the neighborhood. Several minutes later, there were reports of a person hiding in bushes in the area.
By 11:20 p.m., most police vehicles had left the scene. At least one officer stayed to interview witnesses in the parking lot of the College Park apartment building. A Moorhead police sergeant said no one was hurt in the incident and no one had been arrested, as of 11:35 p.m. Sunday.
While officers were patrolling the neighborhood, they responded to a separate disturbance at the Terrace on the Green apartment building across the street. That incident quickly ended.
"It's just been getting worse and worse around here," McClure said. "I have a 2-year-old grandson and a new one on the way, and it doesn't feel safe."
As of noon on Monday, police had not released additional details on the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
