WYNDMERE, N.D. — The body of a Fargo man was found in Richland County on Thursday afternoon after the individual was first reported missing and endangered in late March.

According to a release by the Richland County Sheriff's Office, they received a report at 2:30 p.m. of an abandoned vehicle northwest of Wyndmere on a prairie trail and the vehicle's license plate matched an elderly man who was reported missing on March 27 by the Fargo Police.

Nobody was in the vehicle so the sheriff's deputies searched the area until the body was found about 1/4 mile from where the vehicle was located, according to the sheriff's office.

The body was taken to the Grand Forks medical examiner's office for an autopsy where a cause of death will be determined.

The victim's name is being withheld until family is notified.
