FARGO — A Fargo woman has pleaded not guilty to shooting a man who she said threatened her life after she confronted him about cheating on her, court documents said.
Ellen Klaypenh, 41, appeared Thursday, May 28, in Cass County District Court, almost two months after she was charged with a Class A felony of attempted murder for allegedly shooting 33-year-old Marcus Kpakilah of Fargo twice in the back at his home at 1532 27th Ave. S. in Fargo.
Prosecutors allege Klaypenh climbed into Kpakilah’s bedroom window on March 26 with a gun so she could confront him about cheating on her and getting back money that she loaned him.
When Klaypenh demanded he give her all of her money, Kpakilah said “he was going to kill her, then kill himself,” according to court documents. That’s when she shot him, court documents said.
Kpakilah, who has not been charged in relation to the confrontation, said Klaypenh shot him while he was washing his hands at the sink, according to court documents. He was treated for his wounds.
Klaypenh is expected to appear next in court on July 1.
