FARGO — A Fargo man has been accused of threatening to kill a woman at a northside apartment hours before he allegedly walked around the building while wearing a gorilla mask and holding a machete.
Jorden Alan Pickus, 26, was charged Friday, Oct. 2, with one felony count of terrorizing in Cass County District Court. Court records did not list an attorney for Pickus as of 2 p.m. Friday.
Pickus was arrested early Friday morning in his apartment at 2702 Eight St. N., where police responded to a report of a male shooting a gun, according to court documents. A woman told police around 12:30 a.m. Friday she heard three loud bangs she believed to be gunshots, police said.
The woman saw a man, later identified as Pickus, wearing a gorilla mask and dark clothing as he walked down the hallway, court documents said. He also was carrying a machete, an incident report said.
Around 8 a.m. Thursday, another woman and her daughter were walking out of her apartment door when they saw Pickus standing on top of the steps by the front door, the incident report said.
"Jorden looked at (the woman) and said he was going to kill her," the report said.
That woman also saw Pickus wearing a gorilla mask and carrying a machete around 12:30 a.m. Friday at the apartment building, according to court documents.
The building was evacuated. Officers also briefly blocked off a section of Eighth Street North from 25th to 28th Avenues North during the incident.
Police said in a Facebook post that Pickus threatened to blow up the apartment complex, but that was not mentioned in court documents.
Officers were able to convince Pickus to come out of his apartment just before 3 a.m. Friday, according to court documents.
There was no evidence of shots fired, police said in court documents. Officers later learned the loud bangs were fireworks, according to a Facebook post.
Pickus was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation before he was booked into the Cass County Jail.
Editor's note: This story has been changed to reflect that police said the suspect was wearing a gorilla mask.
